This year, Solvinity scored exceptionally well in the annual Giarte Outsourcing Performance benchmark survey. We managed to achieve an Outsourcing Recommendation Score of 100%, compared to 91% last year, as well as a Trust Score of 79. In other words, our clients give us 8 out of 10 and are unanimous in their willingness to recommend us, which means that we are not only in the top 3 in the Netherlands, we are also once again one of the biggest gainers. This achievement is even more special when you consider that only one other participant managed to get more clients to take part in the survey than we did.
During the presentation of the survey at Giarte’ OP-day 2016, animals from around the globe were used to illustrate a range of different players. The "process tiger" was given short shrift, in the belief that it is no longer necessary if you want to outsource successfully. The "madly-excited squirrel" was cited as a metaphor for the providers that are trying to harvest as many nuts as possible to keep their bellies as full as possible. And then there was the "giraffe": the elegant, all-seeing long-legged creature that is willing to stick its neck out to get to the best leaves.
The giraffe is a metaphor for what we do. Solvinity’s strength is that we are genuinely interested in the world around us. Each of our clients receives equal attention and every year, we ask them for feedback so we can continuously improve ourselves.
An extraordinary year
Last year was special in many ways. It was our first year as Solvinity (until September last year, we were still called ASP4all/Bitbrains); it was a year in which we took on 50 new Solvineers; it was also a year in which we consciously paid special attention to transparency and forward thinking, in response to the previous Outsourcing Performance study. That means being transparent about what we do, even when things aren’t going perfectly, and thinking about the future together with clients, so we can move forward together. It has worked. This year’s excellent results are no accident. They are a massive compliment to our employees, our clients and our partners.
Obviously, we haven’t finished yet. If you stop innovating, you lose ground and as such, we are already looking ahead to the coming year, in which lots of interesting challenges await us. In a nutshell: everything has to be in the cloud; all our focus will be on our clients' businesses; in order to reduce the growing degree of complexity, our emphasis will be more on chain and service integration; clients will have to be able to do more themselves (i.e. more self-service and APIs); and we will have to take into account that data sciences (Fintech, Healthtech, etc.) are going to take off in a big way.
What are we going to do?
We are in a great starting position, because our clients are willing and eager to get to work with us. We just have to do it and that requires a number of things from all of us. First, we must realise that we are turning into a software company. Even our data centre services will soon all be virtual. Second, we must be aware that innovation is a group effort. We don’t have a separate department for this; it is everybody’s job to put time and energy into helping out and contributing ideas. And finally, most importantly: our clients. The better our relationship with our clients is and the better we know and understand them, the better our services can match their business needs.
Ultimately, that is what counts. Our clients didn't give us fantastic reviews because we do our job, but because we surpass their expectations, lead the way for them, and often know how to help them better and more quickly than they realised was possible, because we’re prepared to stick out our necks to reach the highest and best leaves. Solvinity is a giraffe and I think that’s one of the best compliments we can get.
